All of the hockey movies are usually about the glory of boys and men’s hockey and their teams. There is nothing about women’s hockey and there is ample material. How about the first time that women’s hockey was contested at the Olympics. The fight to have it as an event took years. How about the first women to play hockey back in the 19th century. Or any other first achievement that women’s hockey had made over the years. If the movie is made right, it would attract many females to see it in the movie theaters.
#CCM hockey seems to be moving away from the CCM+U line and heading into a new direction. The CCM U + 10 Ice Hockey Skates is more of a novice to mid level hockey skate that is lightweight yet sturdy. The protection level is fair but when you are at a developmental level or novice, you don’t need the greatest protection. The support is fair but I recommend those who need the extra support to add a hockey insole. The fit of the skates were too narrow for me (I have a wide foot) but for the right hockey player, they would be ideal. The skates’ price is coming down since this line seems to be on the phase out, much like their old Tacks line which has been gone for years.
Disney made the movie “Miracle” which is about the famous Miracle On Ice during the 1980 Winter Olympics. The reason why it’s a miracle is because USA had not had the gold medal since 1960 and today the closest USA has come to gold is silver. However, Disney watered down the story and you don’t have the whole story. Look it up because the movie does not do the true story and justice.
There are two good reasons to keep a backup pair of hockey skates.
You are on the ice several days a week- If you are on the ice more than twice a week, consider a separate pair of skates to cut down on the wear ant tare on the skates from the boots and blades. Also, the skates will have the proper amount to time to dry. This also is true if you go to public skating frequently. There’s no need to wear put your good skates for that.
You use a skate treadmill or on an artificial ice surface- The plastic on these surfaces will dull your blades in one session and will need to have your skates sharpened between uses. This saves you the worry about turn around time for getting your skates sharpened.
For many women, they had picked up hockey from watching it on t.v. or their male family members. For me, it was my grand mother and she is part of the reason why I am addimeant about progressing women’s hockey. My grandmother grew up in Newfoundland, Canada in the 1930s. There were no leagues and she played hockey with the kids in the area. She played goalie without protection. Back then, the world was much more conservative and the expectations on women were like that too. It is women like my grandmother that who would help to progress the sport. With each woman who plays, it is one more in the game to grow the sport. Sadly, there were not many opportunities for her to play back then. So, to keep women’s hockey in the shadows does a huge disservice to all of the women who played hockey in Canada during it’s early years.
